ABOUT AMANDA

I am a website and graphic designer for small businesses. I have enjoyed working in the always expanding field of digital design and advertising since 2001.

From 2001 to 2013

I moved into various positions with Richmond Times-Dispatch, Media General, and Berkshire Hathaway, a large network of digital, newspaper and television properties. I managed the Design Team's project load, worked directly with the Sales team to produce digital and print products, including fully customized web sites, email newsletters, banner ad design and marketing materials. I created corporate documentation for the Yahoo! advertising done on our websites. Collaboration with the Creative Team was organized and planned for larger projects to create web sites, html newsletters and digital banner ads for each client.

PRESENT DAY

Working from home as Office Manager for the family business, my side hustle is web and graphic design on a referral basis.

As a passionate website and graphic designer, I specialize in creating user-friendly designs that bring brands to life. With a strong focus on creativity, functionality, and modern design trends, I aim to create digital experiences that captivate audiences and deliver results.

In Dec 2024, I was excited to finish some extensive training in the latest responsive website design and graphic design techniques. I learned additional ways to create and edit my own HTML, CSS, Bootstrap and Javascript, which are what we use in the industry to build and customize each website.

I'm now moving into learning video and PowerPoint! I have created instructional videos and photos synced up with music videos. I also work with a team of friends and have even created whiteboard animations with music and sound effects, as well as instructional slideshows with narration. I'm training in PowerPoint and learning new techniques in how to design presentations and animate slides.

Long story short...I love digital design!

WORKING PRACTICE

Digital design is always changing. As the building blocks of the web, (1) HTML structures the content and (2) CSS handles styling and layout, making them essential for creating all websites. They both continue to adapt to new demands, with HTML5 and CSS3 introducing features like responsive design, advanced layouts, and multimedia support.

HTML and CSS are also crucial for SEO and accessibility. HTML provides the semantic structure that search engines and assistive technologies rely on, while CSS allows for visual adjustments that enhance usability. Their universal compatibility across browsers ensures that websites reach any audience.

This is my workspace for what I'm currently learning and testing.

COST AND PRICING

For privacy reasons, by phone and email are not provided here, but you know how to contact me!

Each project is different and I provide each client with an estimate.

For logos and print products, the one time charge covers the cost of design and includes all files needed for print.

For websites, the one time charge covers website creation and design, domain name purchase, file hosting and if needed business email. Then each year, the client receives an annual bill to renew their services.
